Thad was born in Bozeman and grew up in Denton, Montana, where he graduated from Denton High School in 1994, as the Valedictorian of his class. He graduated from Dickinson State University in North Dakota in 1998 with a B.A. in Political Science and an English minor. At DSU Thad was honored with the Outstanding Senior Achievement Award, which is based upon overall achievements while at the University. While at Dickinson State University, Thad participated in varsity football where he was a starter on the offensive line for three years and was an academic all-American his senior year.
After graduating from Dickinson State University, Thad returned to Montana and attended law school at the University of Montana School of Law where he graduated in 2001. During Thad's second and third years of law school, he interned at Bennett Law Office, P.C. His clinical was in the land use clinic during his third year of law school.
Thad's practice is transactional in nature. His primary focus has been in the area of estate planning and probate. He also has experience with commercial, real estate, and liquor licensing. Thad is a member to the State Bar of Montana, the American Bar Association, the Western Montana Bar Association, and the Missoula Estate Planning Council.
Thad is on the board of directors for CampFire USA, Ponderosa Council, and he is a member to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church and Five Valleys Pachyderm.
Thad and his wife Maryann have two daughters and one son, Taylor, Emily, and Trevor. Thad's also enjoys golf, softball, bowling, and the outdoors.
